The KORE Tundra kit is a modular system that you can purchase one part at a time.
The first part is the coil-over set up. It's a lot like the kit that KORE helped Fox develop except the KORE shocks come with longer, softer custom Eibach coil springs, contain different valving, and offer more wheel travel than the Fox shock.
The difference is that the Fox coil-over replacements for the Tundra are a direct bolt-on. Their length is very close to stock, thus the spring rate must be higher to get the desired amount of lift. Mounting our KORE shocks requires five minutes of grinding on the lower control arm shock mounting pocket, so it's not a straight bolt-on kit, but the benefits are increased wheel travel, more lift, a more appropriate bump/droop travel relationship, softer, more controlled ride, and greater adjustability.
This kit has been extensively tested on and off road, to include plenty of Baja time. When set to 3 inches of lift, Tundras can still be aligned to OE specs. With a little more than three inches of lift (via the adjustable shock) we could fit a 35" tire without trimming anything. It's a pretty tight squeeze between the forward cab mount so, due to production variances, we doubt 35's will clear on everyone's Tundra. But it’s quite easy to make a little clearance by cutting a bit of the cab mount that’s right behind the front wheel. You may not need to do this, depending on your truck, but if it’s a concern then you can simply run a 33 inch tire.
Next month we will release KORE's billet UCA's that use a special high-angle ball joint vice a uniball. We found during testing that for long-term use, a uniball is problematic on street trucks. These upper control arms are fully adjustable for camber and caster, provide more precise steering control, and a softer, smoother suspension action. The stock UCA's use rubber bushings that must twist. KORE arms use Kevlar/Teflon rod ends with bearings that rotate smoothly.
The rear set up uses KORE-spec Deaver springs, replacement shackles, and a pair or remote reservoir Fox shocks. We will release the rear half next month.
For the Tundra, we will not be incorporating the 930-style finned, inboard CV found on some of our new IFS kits. The Tundra front axles on our project truck cycle within the travel range of our shocks with no problems.
The front half offers 12.4 inches of wheel travel. It's available right now.
